Step 4: Install DMD Probe¶
Good news! Seven segment numerical and fourteen segment alphanumeric machines do not have a DMD (dot matrix display), so this step does not apply to your machine type. You can skip to the next step.
Be sure to shut off your game before proceeding. Games that have a DMD (dot matrix display) also require a DMD Probe. The DMD Probe sits in-line between the game's display driver board and the display cable.
Locate Original Connection¶
Find the location in your [machine_type] backbox that looks like this:

Pay careful attention to the orientation of the ribbon cable as it plugs into the board. You will be using the same orientation later.
Insert Scorbit DMD Probe¶
Carefully remove the connector from the game electronics.
Note for [machine_type] DMD machines
This machine often has the DMD driver board on the speaker panel. To avoid problems with the DMD Probe getting crowded with cabling in the lower part of the backbox, we recommend placing the provided DMD extension cable between the display board and the DMD probe. This allows the DMD probe to move flexibly on its cable, so it can move where it needs to go to fit properly.
Insert the Scorbit DMD Probe in its place. Carefully put the original cable into the Scorbit DMD Probe. Next, plug in the 1M USB cable into the probe, with the other end plugged into the Scorbitron. We recommend running the cable through existing cable managment.

Pay extra attention to where the probe slides onto the pins. It is often easy to offset the probe to the left or right. Make sure it is perfectly centered and no pins are exposed.
